A nearby lesson still needs a clear purpose
Identify whether you want daily homework support, one difficult subject, or exam preparation. These needs can overlap but should not be treated as identical. A child who copies correct answers may need more independence rather than more lesson hours. Bring an assignment with the student’s own work so the discussion starts from a real learning task.
Compare the weekly pattern, not only distance
Map school dismissal, lesson start, family pickup, dinner, and any sports or music commitments. Include time to change activities. If the family is considering several programs, compare one ordinary weekday with the busiest weekday. A short route does not solve a schedule that leaves no time for homework or rest.
Bring evidence for placement
For math, bring a quiz and calculation steps. For ELA, bring a reading response and teacher comments. For Chinese, describe home speaking experience and current reading ability. Ask whether the student should begin in a group or privately and how the teacher will check the first learning goal. Placement should reflect readiness rather than ZIP code or age alone.

Check every confirmation for the correct location before arranging pickup. Program availability and venue use should be confirmed directly; a location listed for one class does not establish a branch for all services.
Use a short review cycle
After several lessons, compare a fresh task with the starting sample. Ask what the student can now do without help and what still needs practice. Discuss scheduling separately from academic progress so a missed lesson does not automatically look like a learning failure.
