Keep a starting sample
Before beginning, save a short task completed independently. Record the topic, date, time allowed, and prompts used. Do not rewrite the work to make it cleaner. The sample becomes a reference for the teacher and makes it easier to distinguish improved understanding from a parent giving more help. A baseline is information, not a label for the child.
Compare equivalent tasks
For math, use different questions requiring the same concept. For reading, compare passages at a similar level with the same response demand. For writing, keep the prompt and rubric alongside the draft. Retrying an identical task from memory can measure recall of an answer rather than transfer. Ask the tutor to suggest a fresh check when the comparison is unclear.
Track independence and explanation
Use a simple scale: completed independently, needed one prompt, or needed repeated modeling. Add a sentence about what the student explained correctly. A student who makes one arithmetic slip but chooses the method independently may show different progress from one who gets the answer only after step-by-step help. Keep both observations rather than reducing everything to right or wrong.
Use reviews as context, not proof of your result
Aurora Genesis’s existing tutoring page includes public Google review excerpts describing parent experiences. Reviews can help you form questions about patience, communication, and the learning environment. They do not establish a typical score increase for every student. Read the source reviews and discuss how the proposed plan fits your child rather than treating someone else’s story as a guarantee.
Adjust when progress stalls
If comparable work is not improving, ask whether the goal is too broad, practice is inconsistent, the level is mismatched, or a prerequisite needs attention. Bring actual work to the discussion. Try one change and agree on a review point. This page provides an observation framework; it does not publish fabricated student case studies or claim a standard tutoring outcome.
